Love in the Time of the Pandemic
Kelly and Panos were neighbours, living just 300 steps away from each other, yet their paths never crossed until the pandemic began to wane. Both had very detailed and complete online profiles, reflecting their shared interests in coffee shops, restaurants, magazines, and newspapers. Initially, Kelly found Panos to be quite serious, but her perception changed when he showed affection for her dogs. This was the beginning of a beautiful love story.
A Fusion of Cultures and Interests
Panos introduced Kelly to the enchanting world of opera, while Kelly familiarized Panos with music from the last 50 years. Despite never having visited Greece before meeting Panos, Kelly has since visited 14 times and is even learning Greek. Their first real date was a thoughtfully planned wander through contemporary art galleries in Soho, acknowledging Kelly’s background in History of Art.
Their love story also took them to Brazil, where Kelly has lived and continues to spend a significant portion of her professional life. The similarities between Greece and Brazil have struck Kelly, further bonding the couple through their shared experiences.
Embracing Family and Future
Kelly’s children, were enthusiastic about the prospect of a wedding even before Kelly and Panos started discussing it. Her boy made sure Panos knew that Kelly would say yes if he proposed. The children were of course a huge part of the big day, adding to the joyous occasion.
Panos, born and raised in Greece, has his immediate family still living here. With friends and family spread around the world, their wedding naturally became a destination wedding. Even their friends in London eagerly supported the idea of a Greek wedding, drawn by the country’s amazing food, culture, and weather.
Choosing the Perfect Venue: Island Art and Taste
Kelly and Panos found their ideal wedding venue in the Island Art and Taste, the Private House. This venue offers an incredible view, stunning architecture and furnishings, and an intimate atmosphere where guests won’t feel lost. The venue, which feels like a private home yet is perfectly equipped for a proper celebration.
Couple also adores Vouliagmeni, with its pine trees and understated streets, adding to the charm and allure of their wedding location. The sense of place is crucial to them, and they aimed to share the best of Greece with their guests. This included a carefully chosen menu featuring Greek and Mani-specific dishes, honoring Panos’ heritage from the southern Peloponnese.
Wedding Aesthetics and Ambiance
Kelly and Panos had a clear vision for their wedding aesthetics and we were so keen in following their vision:
- Flowers and Table Settings: we used yellow flowers such as solidago, orchids, daisies and greenery, so we ended up with this stunning monochromatic effect that blended perfectly with this stunning wedding venue.
- Lighting: Over dinner area we had hanging fairy lights and candles to create a magical atmosphere. The dancefloor of course with the party lights and the hanging white balls drew all the attention to an amazing party.
- Colors and Patterns: Elegant tableware, an amazing retro style menu – to match the whole wedding and invitations suite – and table numbers with the places the couple has been. Can this be more personalized?
- Furniture: We also changed venue’s standard bohemian furniture by adding white sofas, tables and bar stools, so the yellow florals would pop out even more.
A Magical Rainy Twist
As the evening progressed, a gentle rain began to fall right after the dinner and heartfelt speeches, adding a touch of unexpected magic to the celebration. Our team seamlessly transitioned the festivities, swiftly moving everyone to the dessert buffet and ensuring the dance floor and a new bar was perfectly set up indoors. Kelly later wrote in her glowing review, “Also–FANTASTIC moving everyone to the dessert buffet when it rained and sorting out the dance floor. You handled all this like the seasoned pro that you are!!!” This impeccable coordination ensured that the night continued smoothly, turning a potential disruption into a delightful and memorable part of their special day.
