Spring wedding in Athens, at Pyrgos Melissourgou

Greece is popular for its endless summer, but during springtime, the areas around the sea are also in full bloom and a welcome sight.

So choosing Athens for your spring wedding would always be a really nice option. Especially when choosing a venue, such as the castle of Pyrgos Melissourgou, that is dated back to the 17th Century. The Castle is located at the Southern part of Attica (Lagonissi), just 15 minutes from the International Airport of Athens, on the way to the Archaeological site of Sounion Peninsula, at a distance of 1.000 meters from the sea, while offering a gorgeous view and unique sunsets. This castle is one of the oldest and probably most historic private residences in Greece, still maintained in excellent condition and it belongs to the same family since 1836.

Choosing a Wedding planner in Greece

Every couple has a unique style on its own and we always love to get inspired from our couple’s tastes and personal likes. The experience starts from the moment you choose us, as your wedding planners for your wedding in Athens. We know you also believe in chemistry, that you trust our 10 years of experience and you know by now from our extended portfolio that we can adapt to any kind of wedding vision. So, after we leave all the technical details behind us (such as contracts, venue bookings etc.) and we start on your wedding design of your Greek wedding, this is where all the fun stuff starts. From the moment we create our couple’s wedding mood board, we hand pick each vendor in order to make the perfect team, because we are firm believers that teams are truly important on a wedding day and only if they’re focused and inspired by our couple can give the best outcome and bring our couple’s vision into life.

Wedding design for a Greek wedding

You can draw inspiration from art, architecture and of course everyday life for a couple before creating their mood board. You can also look in the past and make a remake. And this is the case here. A 70’s inspired spring wedding in a tower. Ok it doesn’t make sense, but what if Mick Jagger wanted to get married with Bianca, not in Saint Tropez but in a castle? How would this wedding look and feel nowadays?

We thought of a spring, fairytale wedding that even if it’s taking place on a castle that could also look modern and ultra-elegant. And here it is.

Pavlos the flowers workshop, did an amazing job with the florals combining fresh and dry flowers for the church decoration. This gave a more bohemian look and a more dramatic tone to the stone built chapel creating a sense of sweetness.

For the intimate dinner area, we chose the lemon garden that lies in front of the residence. Yellow was one of our main colors, especially its buttery hues, combined with the mellow orange and soft pink accents. As usual, we focused a lot on all small details like the embroidery on the menus made by the super talented Bright White who truly enhanced this colorful wedding stationery suite with this elegant and DIY touch. All the character found at the tower was beautifully amplified with this colorful and meticulously designed wedding collection of paper goods.

Choosing professionals for your wedding in Greece

Can you imagine a 70’s inspired wedding without fancy alcohol? Absolutely not. This is why we brought this amazing van from the Bully Bar, so we could have some extraordinary cocktails in all spring colors accompanied with the delicious fingerfood aligned to our theme from the Dipnosofistirion catering.

Our velvet dusty pink sofa and the white furry armchairs kept the 70’s accents going on our lounge area in front of the mobile bar van. All these unique pieces of furniture were brought from Zazoo, where their funky shapes and colors gave this modern twist we were looking for our spring celebration. The magnificent neon sign that came from the Letter and Co complemented the modern and rock aspect of this funky corner in the most glamorous way.

If you believe that a wedding cake may not be the first detail you consider for your wedding, this one will make you change your mind. For us, the wedding cake inspiration is very important and this why we called our dear partners, The Cakers, since we knew we wouldn’t get something less but a true work of art for our spring cake. And this was what happened. This meta-romantic masterpiece combined romantic details of handmade sugar iced flowers with a modern, minimalistic structure of total white sponge cake.

We wonder which cake flavor would be the favorite one of Mick and Bianca Jagger!

We were inspired by the 70’s, because going through this pandemic era, we just wanted to feel free and do crazy things. So the wedding dress, the shoes, our groom’s colored suit, the big hats, effortless hair look, the cocktail van and a guitar for singing and dancing of course. Therefore, everyone got into the fun and carefree mood immediately, and finally it was what we initially envisioned: A wedding celebration with free feelings, colors and playfulness. After all, this sense of happiness is what we strive for our couples to embody to their wedding day. We are infinitely grateful to all our dear partners who took part to create this outcome and last but not least our photographer Vassilis Kouroupis and our videographer Nikos Dimou.
