A picturesque fall wedding in Mani Peninsula

The location formed as the perfect canvas for our couple’s wedding concept.

This micro wedding took place in September 2020 with a total of 45 guests. The location formed as the perfect canvas for our couple’s wedding concept. We drew inspiration from so many things such as the stoned built houses of the hotel, the magnificent sunset views from our ceremony area, the natural fauna of the location.

The symbolic ceremony was truly emotional with the group of wedding guests reading lyrics from a Greek traditional wedding song: “Simera gamos ginete” while our bride was walking down the aisle with her dad.

The hotel’s outdoor patio split in 3 different levels formed a unique layout where in the latter level we had the ceremony and then dinner in the above two levels. Everyone got to enjoy dinner with an unobstructed view of the sea and sunset.

After the speeches and the special surprise the bridesmaids have organized for the bride, we had the cake cutting and of course the party started. And who said a small group of people can’t have a big party? Our guests enjoyed the dancefloor until early morning hours. It’s all about music and the perfect lighting.

RPS Highlights:

  • The invitation suite that drew its concept from our venue’s stoned houses and the area’s unparalleled sunsets
  • The stunning arch!
  • The sanitization cart
  • The kids’ placemats and pencil cases with the motto: “Draw more sunsets”
  • The amazing sunset of our venue!
The location:

According to the Guardian Mani area is among Europe’s hidden coasts.

The Deep Mani, further south in Peloponnese, is a different prospect, with its rugged coastline broken by only the occasional cove. Far fewer people visit here, and even fewer stay.”

So this is the destination wedding Sarah and Charis chose for their wedding and most specifically the Bassa Maina Villas and Suites, a stunning location with unparalleled sunsets.

Words from our couple:
Charis was born in Athens and came to Switzerland four years ago together with his best friend to find a work, which he did and is working now as an IT Project manager in a non-profit organization. Sarah was born and grew up in Zürich and is now a teacher in a secondary school. We both moved to the same building in Oct 2016, but it took us one and a half year to see each other. Some high extra costs which we received from our landlord was the reason we finally met for the first time. Meeting Sarah was not easy, she was always at school when Charis invited all the neighbours to discuss this issue with them. In the beginning we were only mailing each other. In the end we found out, that Sarah’s bill was the lowest in the building and Charis invited her for tips. And then we just clicked. We found each other and home was no longer an apartment, but we became each other’s home. We moved together after 6 months, we cook together, we clean together and became a very good team.
Why did they choose Greece?
We choose Greece because Charis lived the most part of his life in Greece and his family and many friends are still there. Sarah feels mostly connected to her Swiss side and we will sign in Zurich. But the signing is a very short process and we want to celebrate our love and marriage with our close family and friends in Greece. This way, we include both countries. But mostly we like the Greek hospitality, the people, the nature and the sea, which we don’t have in Switzerland and we want to offer also this experience to our friends and family.
